Campaign 2026 · Wells for the Sandorra Valley

Clean water, a short walk from every door.

This year we are drilling ten new wells with families in seven villages of the Sandorra Valley. Help us finish the job before the dry season, and every child here can drink safe water close to home.

Why wells

Hours spent walking for water are hours taken from life.

01

The problem

In many Sandorra villages the nearest safe water is a long walk away. Girls and women carry it home every day, often more than once, and the open ponds closer by make children ill.

02

The solution

A deep, well-built borehole with a hand pump, run by a village water committee. Local caretakers are trained to fix it, and a small repair fund keeps it working for decades.

Stories from the valley

The people behind every pump.

Each well belongs to the village that runs it. Here are three of the people who make that happen.

Sunita Varghal, Mother & water committee treasurer, Kessavi

My daughter used to miss school to fetch water. Now the pump is next to the market, and she is the one who teaches me new words in the evening.

Ravindu Mbeli, Pump caretaker, Tamboro Hills

I look after our pump like my own garden. When a part wears out, I fix it the same day. Nobody walks to the river any more.

The children come back from break with clean hands and full bottles. Fewer of them are ill, so more of them are here to learn.

How much of my gift goes to the wells?

72 cents of every dollar pays for drilling and pumps, and another 20 cents for caretakers, training, testing and repairs. The last 8 cents keeps our small office running. You can see the full breakdown in our yearly report.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

That depends on where you live and how charities are registered there. We send a receipt for every gift, but please check your local rules or ask a tax adviser before claiming anything.

How do I change or cancel a monthly gift?

Use the link in any receipt email, or write to us and we will change or stop it the same day. There is no minimum period and no fee.

Who looks after the wells once they are built?

Each village elects a water committee and chooses two caretakers. We train them, supply spare parts and visit every quarter to test the water.

Will I hear about the wells I help fund?

Yes. Donors get a short update by email when each Sandorra well opens, with photos taken by the villages themselves.

Can I give in someone’s name or raise money myself?

Of course. Add a note when you donate, or email us and we will send you a fundraising pack with posters and a personal page.
