Landing page or full website: which does your business need?
One focused page, or a site with several pages? The answer depends on what you sell and how people find you. Here is a simple way to decide.

“Do I need a website, or is a landing page enough?” It’s one of the most common questions we get. The two look similar but do different jobs. Picking the right one saves you money and gets better results.
What’s the difference?
| Compare | Landing page | Full website |
|---|---|---|
| Pages | One page | Several pages (home, services, about, contact…) |
| Goal | One action: call, book, buy or sign up | Explain everything you do and build trust |
| Visitors come from | Ads, social posts, emails, QR codes | Google searches, word of mouth, your Google profile |
| Best for | One offer, event, product or service | A business with several services or products |
| Time to build | Days | About one to a few weeks |
When a landing page is enough
- You run ads (Google, Facebook, Instagram) for one service or offer. Sending ad visitors to a focused page with one button usually works better than sending them to a busy home page.
- You’re launching something: a new product, a course, an app, an event or a seasonal offer.
- You offer one main service and most customers find you through your Google profile or social media. A strong one-page site with services, area, reviews and a call button can be all you need.
- You want to test an idea quickly before investing in a full site.
When you need a full website
- You offer several services and want each to be found on Google. One page per service lets each one show up for its own searches (“hot water repair”, “blocked drains”).
- Google search is important to you. More pages with useful content (services, areas, guides) give Google more to show.
- Customers need to trust you before they call: clinics, lawyers, accountants and builders usually need an about page, team, credentials and more detail.
- You sell many products, take bookings for several services, or need a blog.
What makes a good landing page
- A clear headline that says what you offer and to whom.
- One main button (call, book, buy, sign up), repeated down the page.
- Proof: real reviews, photos of your work, numbers you can back up.
- Answers to the usual objections: price, timing, guarantees, a short FAQ.
- Fast on phones: most ad clicks come from phones, and a slow page wastes the money you paid for the click. See why websites are slow on phones.
What does each cost?
A landing page is usually cheaper than a full website because there’s less to design and write. Typical ranges and the hidden costs are in our guide How much does a small business website cost?.
You can have both
Many businesses use a full website for Google and their reputation, plus separate landing pages for ads and offers. The landing pages share the website’s look, so customers feel they’re in the same place.
